 A bit about postpartum nutrition…

Postpartum traditions around the world favor food that is soft, soupy, warm, moist, creamy, oily, and fairly mild for the initial period after birth. After the energetic expenditure of birth and almost ten months of having your abdominal organs pushed into a tighter space, your digestion is considered to be a little slower and weaker than normal, so it’s time to eat gently for a while before getting back into high gear. As these carefully planned, nutritious meals flow down your throat and into your stomach, they will power your whole body. It takes less energy for the body to absorb these nutrients leaving you with more energy for healing and regenerating.

 

A bit about ingredients…

Anti-inflammatory, nutrient-rich foods help inhibit the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines - molecules that regulate inflammation levels. Since your goals are to heal your body, rebuild your tissues, protect your mental health (inflammation is indicated in PPD), produce nutrient-rich breast milk (for those who breastfeed), and restore your nutrient levels, anti-inflammatory foods should be the cornerstone of your diet. To this end, the dishes offered on this menu include a wide variety of fresh, colorful vegetables, fruits and berries, iron-rich proteins, healthy fats, low-mercury fish, and moderate amounts of gluten-free, nutrient-rich grains. Most importantly, every nutritious, homemade dish on this menu is made and delivered with the most important ingredient of all, love!

 

A bit about packaging…

Every recipe on this menu serves (at least) four. I will deliver everything in freezer-friendly packaging including instructions for re-heating (when applicable). Every package is labeled with a full list of ingredients and the label will highlight at least one ingredient in the dish, explaining its specific postpartum nutritional value. Included in your delivery will be any garnish (ie: lime, cheese, cilantro, etc.) recommended for each dish. Easy to read instructions will be provided with each delivery.

$350 (includes ingredients* and free delivery within 15 miles of 91301)

Includes your choice of:

7 items from any of the categories below (Soups and Curries include a side of rice or quinoa).

*Limit one meat/chicken/fish dish per order - a fee of $10 will be added per each additional meat/chicken/fish dish.

**Every dish serves at least 2 and can be customized to your needs and wishes

**I make my best effort to buy organic, farm-raised, fair trade, and free-range

**Almost every recipe can be made vegan, veggie, meat, dairy, and/or gluten-free (see above for additional fees)

**I do not use any pork products or shellfish in any of my recipes

Don’t see your favorite comfort food dish on the menu - no worries - just let me know what you like and I’ll happily make it for you. Furthermore, every dish on this menu is adaptable. Once you choose your dishes, click on the “Customize and Order” button to personalize your dish. Make it vegan, veggie, meat, dairy, gluten-free, etc. Feel free to make substitutions or additions to any recipe using the “Special Instructions” section of the customization menu.
